Hillary Clinton is holding onto a slim lead over Donald Trump, according to a new online national poll.

The Morning Consult survey, conducted in concert with Politico, shows support among likely voters breaking down this way:

  • Clinton: 42 percent
  • Trump: 40 percent
  • Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson: 8 percent

The online poll was conducted Sept. 15-16.

In other findings:

  • Clinton's lead over Trump among all registered voters is 39 percent to 38 percent.
  • 43 percent of Republicans say Trump was not the best pick to be the party's nominee; 50 percent of GOP voters disagree. Forty-one percent of Democrats say Clinton wasn't the best party pick; 55 percent say she was.
  • More than one-third of Clinton's supporters say they are voting against Trump; 44 percent of Trump's voters say they're voting against Clinton.
  • 47 percent think Clinton will win in November, and 33 percent say Trump will win.
