Reid: Trump Camp in On Russia Election Hacking

By    |   Monday, 12 Dec 2016 07:41 PM

Sen. Harry Reid on Monday told The Huffington Post that Donald Trump’s campaign was in on the election hacking by Russia.

“Someone in the Trump campaign organization was in on the deal,” said Reid, a sharp critic of Trump’s and FBI Director James Comey when he reviewed Hillary Clinton’s e-mail case days ahead of the election.

“I have no doubt. Now, whether they told [Trump] or not, I don’t know. I assume they did. But there is no question about that. So there is collusion there, clearly.”

The Washington Post last week reported that the CIA concluded that Russia had interfered in the election in an aim to get Trump elected.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators told the Post. “That’s the consensus view.”

Reid believes Trump’s camp had something to do with it despite sharp pushback onto the intelligence community from the President-elect.

“Don’t put blindfolds on,” he said. “Here is the deal: We have a situation where during the campaign, especially the last few months of the campaign, WikiLeaks was heavily involved in trying to hurt Hillary Clinton and it helped Trump. And you have Trump who said he likes Putin better than he likes Obama.”
