A Republican businesswoman who has appeared on national talk shows to discuss her opposition to presidential candidate Donald Trump has been rejected as a delegate in the District of Columbia, according to The Washington Post.

Rina Shah Bharara, founder of a political consultant firm, came to national attention when she appeared on Fox News and said she would consider voting for Hillary Clinton instead of Trump. She once called Trump a "racist, misogynist flip-flopper," in a tweet.

Inside Sources website called her the "poster girl" for the #NeverTrump movement.

Bharara, a child of immigrants from India, said the party rejected her certification because they said she lived in Virginia, not D.C. as required by the party. She gave the party proof of her D.C. residence, and says she's going to the Republican national convention anyway.

"This is all Trump-driven," Bharara said. "They are searching for anything to get rid of me."

Breitbart reported she lives in Virginia, following her Fox News appearance.

Bharara was an elected delegate for Marco Rubio in D.C. After Rubio withdrew from the race, she felt "sucker punched."

Appearing on Fox News' "Real Story" in April, Bharara said she remains committed to Rubio on the first ballot, but after that she's a "free agent" who can vote for whomever she likes.

In regards to her claim that she would support Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton instead of Trump, Bharara said, "I know what I'm getting with Clintonian policies."

As for Trump, "he's seriously too far off the deep end for me."

The Inside Sources report noted that Maureen Blum, another D.C. delegate, called on Bharara not to vote at all in the general election.

Bharara is also not a supporter of Ted Cruz, telling Inside Story" between Cruz and Trump, "It's a pick between evil and more evil."
