Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani gave $75,000 to his 2008 presidential campaign committee last month, trimming a bit from its $2.6 million in debt load, according to Federal Election Commission records, Politico reports. Giuliani, who is considering another bid for the Republican nomination next year, has given his committee a total of $975,000.

The committee raised another $21,000 during March, its only other income for the period, by renting out donor lists. The $2.6 million debt burden includes a $1.1 million loan Giuliani provided when the campaign began, according to Politico.

It’s difficult to mount a new political campaign while still holding debt from the old one because it turns off potential donors and supporters. Likely candidate Mitt Romney retired his debt last month.
