George Pataki — the three-time New York governor who called Donald Trump's presidential campaign "a poisonous mix of bigotry and ignorance" — said he is now ready to help the new commander-in-chief.

Asked by TWC News at a Republican Party Gala last week whether he is "fully on board with Donald Trump," Pataki answered:

"I'm extremely hopeful and whatever I can do to help make President Trump's four years a success I would be happy to do."

Pataki also said having a president from New York State — the first one since Franklin D. Roosevelt and first Republican since Teddy Roosevelt — an "exciting prospect."

The former governor's words are a far cry from the angry missives he fired at the billionaire businessman last October.

Pataki, who dropped his own bid for the GOP presidential nomination in December 2015 called on Trump to "step down" following the release of a bombshell tape recording of the GOP nominee speaking explicitly about his exploits with women.

In a Twitter message, Pataki said he was "horrified" by the tape and Trump's campaign, which he called a "poisonous mix of bigotry & ignorance."

"Enough! He needs to step down," Pataki concluded. That tweet has since been removed from Pataki's Twitter feed.

Last April, Pataki predicted Trump would "go down in flames" if he became the GOP nominee
