Retired Lt. General Michael T. Flynn said that when he was Defense Intelligence Agency director from 2012 to 2014, President Barack Obama never called him into meetings about intelligence issues.

"I never met with him once," Flynn told the Daily Caller.

Obama appointed Flynn twice, first as assistant director of national intelligence then as the Defense Intelligence Agency director. With all that was happening in the world, Flynn was incredulous that he was never called upon.

"He's very aloof and very distant," Flynn said of Obama. "I wasn't on his screen at all. I wasn't on his radar, which is really sad. It's amazing."

Flynn offered praise for the likely Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Flynn told the Daily Caller that he has worked with Trump's "inner circle" since September 2015.

"He is very, very serious about the future of this country. He is a great listener. I felt we had a great discussion about the world."

"Trump has a bigger, longer-term vision for this country than just sitting as a president for four years. He really does. And that's what I was impressed by," Flynn told the Caller.

Flynn lambasted Trump's likely Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

"She is somebody that you get the impression that she's got some other hidden agenda," Flynn said.

He said that Clinton spearheaded a failed plan to improve relations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Obama.

"She went into it with a level of arrogance and a lack of understanding," Flynn said.

Flynn criticized Clinton's stance on women's rights, claiming that the Clinton Foundation accepted money from Persian Gulf sheiks.

"Any of these countries destroys women's rights," Flynn said.

During an appearance on Fox News' "Off the Record," Flynn said that he sees a connection between Obama's record against America's enemies and former president Jimmy Carter. He said that with both presidents there is "a disconnect between what we can actually do as a nation … and the ideology."
