The New York Times has labeled Donald Trump a "junk food aficionado" who hopes to become "the nation's fast-food president."

The newspaper says the Republican presidential nominee has an "improvised, undisciplined, rushed and self-indulgent" diet that routinely includes Big Macs, fried chicken, and French fries.

And it quotes from a telling interview the billionaire real-estate tycoon gave to CNN's Anderson Cooper, waxing poetic about his love for the country's best-known burger and chicken joints.

"The Big Macs are great. The Quarter Pounder. It's great stuff," Trump gushed, adding that the food is safe.

"I'm a very clean person. I like cleanliness, and I think you're better off going there than maybe someplace that you have no idea where the food's coming from. It's a certain standard."

Last November, Trump told People that his eat-and-run lifestyle as he runs for president hasn't piled on the weight.
