Conservative groups would like to see the Senate follow through with President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Export-Import Bank despite calls from other groups who want the nominee sacked.

Trump tapped former Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J., to lead the Ex-Im Bank in June.

Certain business groups want Trump to rescind the nomination, but The Hill reported nine conservative groups disagree.

"On behalf of the following organizations representing millions of Americans, we write to strongly denounce the special interest business groups that are urging the White House to drop the appointment of Scott Garrett as the next president of the Export-Import Bank," the groups wrote in a letter to Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, who chairs the Senate Banking Committee.

"It is beyond audacious that the recipients of the Bank's subsidies believe that they, not the president, can select the person to run the very agency that will hand the goodies out to them."

Democrats in the House and Senate also would like to see Crapo shoot down Garrett's nomination to lead the bank.

Garrett was opposed to having the Ex-Im Bank exist while he served in Congress from 2003-2017.
