House Speaker Paul Ryan has repeatedly resisted calls from some in the Republican Party for him to be given the presidential nomination if there is a contested convention.

Front-runner Donald Trump thinks he knows why Ryan isn't interested — Trump's voters wouldn't show up to vote for him.

"I think if the millions of people that came out to vote for me are disenfranchised, I think there's gonna be unbelievable turmoil," Trump said Tuesday on "The Rita Cosby Show" on WABC-AM 77 in New York.

"And I think that whoever the candidate is — and that's why I think Paul Ryan perhaps really doesn't wanna … run.

"Now, I don't know if he doesn't wanna run," Trump added. "You know, he said that, so I'm not sure. But I will take him at his word. He said 'I don't wanna run,' because he knows millions of people came out and voted for me and those people will never vote for anybody else. And if they don't, the Republicans can't win."
