Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio could be the three states that could deliver enough electoral votes to "tip" the November contest to Republican Donald Trump, according to a new analysis.

The Sunshine State, with 29 electoral votes, has a 17 percent chance of deciding the election, The New York Times reports. He won the state's Republican primary in March.

Pennsylvania is next, with an 11 percent chance, according to the analysis. The Keystone State has 20 electoral votes — and Trump won that primary in April.

Ohio has a 10 percent chance, the Times reports. Trump lost the primary race to Gov. John Kasich in March. The state has 18 electoral votes.

"Presidential elections in the United States are won not by popular vote, but by winning the Electoral College," the Times reports. 'Rather than one big national election, presidential elections are really 51 little elections held simultaneously in each state (and the District of Columbia).

"If there were no state-to-state variation at all, and the state vote margins remained fixed relative to one another, you'd need to know only the winner of the tipping point state to know who won the election."

Other states on the list are Michigan, with 7 percent chance and 16 electoral votes, and Virginia and North Carolina, each with a 6 percent chance.

Virginia has 13 electoral votes, with the Tar Heel State having 15.

Rounding out the list are Georgia and Colorado, with a 4 percent chance each. The Peach State has 16 electoral votes, while Colorado has nine votes.

Trump won the first three state primaries, losing Colorado to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in April.
