Rep. Diane Black is the front-runner to replace Tom Price as the chair of the House Budget Committee, Politico reported, which would make her the first woman to lead the group.

Price was recently picked by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the Health and Human Services Department.

Black, a Tennessee Republican, is already a member of the House Budget Committee. On budget and economy issues, she has voted to terminate the Home Affordable mortgage program, prioritize spending in case the debt limit is reached, and has also proposed auditing the Federal Reserve System.

More recently, she has slammed the Obama administration for its ruling in early December to block states from defunding Planned Parenthood.

"We should not be surprised that his administration would lash out with this 11th-hour power grab on the way out the door, but I am certain this rule will not stand for long," she said in mid-December, per CBN.

As leader of the committee, she would be front and center in the fight to repeal Obamacare. House Republicans have already unveiled their 2017 spending blueprint, and in it propose to get rid of all of Obamacare, with Price saying it has "contributed to a rise in out-of-pocket costs and less access to quality care."
