Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told Fox News that he stands by his decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey.

In an interview that aired Wednesday night on Fox News, Rosenstein reaffirmed his congressional testimony supporting the decision to terminate Comey, telling Martha MacCallum simply, "I've testified several times about this and yes, I do."

Rosenstein also told MacCallum that he is not skeptical of the lawyers special counsel Robert Mueller has hired to be part of the Russia investigation team despite reports that many of them had donated to Hillary Clinton and other Democrats.

"We judge by results and so my view about that is we'll see if they do the right thing," Rosenstein said.

"I have not personally been involved in any decisions about who to hire. I'm not doing any micro-management," Rosenstein said when asked if he had vetoed any person Mueller wanted to hire.

Rosenstein also rebuffed any notion of a conflict with Mueller given his friendship with Comey.

"I made the decision to appoint Director Mueller based upon his reputation," Rosenstein told MacCallum, adding that, "if there were conflicts that arose, because of Director Mueller or anybody employed by Director Mueller, we have a process within the [Justice Department] to take care of that."
