Cuccinelli Ridicules McAuliffe in April Fool's Jab

By    |   Monday, 01 Apr 2013 11:52 PM

According to Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s gubernatorial campaign, the “biggest joke” of this April Fools' Day is the claim made by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe that his top priority is bringing jobs to the state, reports the Washington Times.

On Monday, the Cuccinelli campaign sent out an email titled “McAuliffe to Open Job-Rich Plant in Virginia.” The mock announcement made the claim that McAuliffe’s company “Greentech would soon be opening a factory outside of Fredericksburg.”

The email featured video clips showing McAuliffe, the former National Democratic Committee chairman, discussing the idea of buying a electric car company in China and re-locating it to the United States, and announcing that a second plant will be opened and will create thousands of jobs.

The email reads: “Terry McAuliffe chose to base his electric car company in Mississippi. Then he blamed the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) for refusing to bid on GreenTech’s contract, a statement that was quickly proven false by Politifact. Turns out, McAuliffe never even gave VEDP the necessary information to offer GreenTech a package. The biggest joke today is Terry McAuliffe claiming to put Virginia jobs first.”

Recent polls show Cuccinelli and McAuliffe running neck-and-neck in the governor’s race.
