Hillary Clinton ally David Brock has put out a $5 million reward for a complete set of President Donald Trump's tax returns.

During the election, Brock, the founder of progressive watchdog group Media Matters for America, teamed with a Republican and each offered to donate that same amount to charity if Trump released his tax returns.

MSNBC reported Tuesday night on Trump's 2005 tax forms, which showed he claimed income of $150 million and paid $38 million in federal taxes.

The White House responded by attacking the network's ratings and accusing MSNBC of breaking the law in obtaining Trump's tax records.

"You know you are desperate for ratings when you are willing to violate the law to push a story about two pages of tax returns from over a decade ago," the statement read, according to The Washington Post.

"Despite this substantial income figure and tax paid, it is totally illegal to steal and publish tax returns. The dishonest media can continue to make this part of their agenda, while the President will focus on his, which includes tax reform that will benefit all Americans."
