New Jersey's Republican Party settled a half-million dollar debt related to the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal, thanks in part to a Donald Trump fundraising event in May, reports The Philadelphia Enquirer

According to the state Election Law Enforcement Commission, seven companies, individuals, and PACs contributed $25,000 each to the party last quarter, exactly the price of a ticket to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee's Lawrenceville event. The amount raised accounts for over one quarter the total debt paid off from April through June.

"Gov. Chris Christie continued his long tradition of raising record amounts for the NJGOP," Executive Director Pete Sheridan said in a statement to the newspaper. "Thanks to his efforts this quarter, our state party is debt-free of all past legal bills and with a strong financial footing to help support Republican candidates across New Jersey to win in November."

According to the ELEC report, the committee received $257,000 in May and June, bringing the total raised in 2016 up to $454,034. However, the Federal Election Commission report states the committee raised $587,498 during that time, according to NorthJersey.com

The official amount raised at the Trump event hasn't been released.

"Chris paid off his entire campaign debt tonight," Trump announced at the May fundraiser, according to The Hill. "And Chris, you can't even give them a table and a seat? That's terrible," Trump joked.
