Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., may face a challenger from a state political veteran, The Boston Globe reports.

Beth Lindstrom, former aide to Gov. Mitt Romney and campaign manager to Warren's predecessor Scott Brown, is considering running against the progressive legislator.

"I am actively exploring a run for U.S. Senate," Lindstrom told the Globe in an email. "I'm a wife and mother with three kids who cares deeply about our state and where we are heading as a country. So much of our politics these days is pointless bickering. We need a senator who will work with people of all political stripes to make progress for Massachusetts."

There are three others either campaigning or considering a campaign, but Lindstrom would be the first woman among them.

"If anyone is going to take on, there's probably no other person better than Beth, or a woman like Beth who is strong and capable and going to present herself well," former state party chairwoman Jennifer Nassour told the Globe. "She could give Warren a really good challenge."

She added that Lindstrom "is an awesome woman. She's smart, she's well-spoken, she is really liked amongst people in the party who have been around for a whole, just has a great reputation as a hard worker. She clearly understands what the race takes since she was Brown's campaign manager."
