The head of the GOP committee writing the party's policy platform said Sunday there'll likely be "disagreements" with presumptive nominee Donald Trump on controversial proposals, like the call for a Muslim ban and the deportation of 11 million illegal immigrants.

In an interview with ABC's "This Week," Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, chairman of the Republican Platform Committee at the Republican National Convention in July – who has opposed Trump's call for a Muslim ban – said he believes Trump will "embrace" the final platform.

"We've asked Donald Trump to allow the process to play out," Barrasso said. "He has agreed to do that. And I've asked him personally to embrace the platform and I believe he will."

He deflected direct answers on whether Trump's Muslim ban and deportation proposals will be part of the platform.

"The platform committee is going to meet on talking about all of these things, and there's going to be agreements with Donald Trump, there's going to be disagreements," he said.

"The platform is the core values of the Republican Party and it will be reflected I believe in what we're able to craft together. And, yes, we're going to have to wait — work our way through the maze of the platform discussions…"
