Former Vice President Al Gore has continued to communicate with President-elect Donald Trump after their December meeting and said the president-elect has been receptive to his suggestions.

Gore's comments came in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"He was receptive to some of what I had to say, and I appreciated that," Gore told the Reporter about his Dec. 5 meeting with the president-elect at Trump Tower.

"Candidate Trump made a number of statements and wrote a bunch of tweets that caused concern, but he also has other statements that at least give rise to the possibility that he and his team will take a fresh look at the reality of what we're facing here."

And Gore says that since the meeting the two have continued to be in touch.

"I won't get into the details of how we have communicated," Gore said. "I don't want the Russians to hack it."

Gore, who prides himself as being an ecological crusader, is sounding the alarm again in the soon-to-be-released documentary, "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power."

However, the Reporter noted he has had limited political exposure in recent years since he lost in his bid for the White House. But Gore revealed he has also been in touch with Hillary Clinton since Trump defeated her.

"She's experienced enough to not need advice from me, but I offered whatever words I thought might be both consoling and helpful," he said. "It was a good conversation."

Gore also spoke in friendly terms about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I first met him when he was deputy mayor of St. Petersburg back in the early '90s," Gore said. "He's come some distance in his views on climate…"

Now, Gore is convinced he can personally turn Trump around on the issue of climate control.

"I'm going to keep the confidence of the president-elect for now," he said.

But Gore said he is prepared to fight Trump on the issue if need be.

"(We're) ready to do battle if that's necessary," he says. "And I have a feeling that to some degree, it will be."
