President Donald Trump's foreign policy is "pretty solid" and he's strong on his stance as a Republican, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said Friday, but he does wish he would discipline what he says and that he'd "throttle back" on his administration's comments concerning Israel.

"I don't know if it's kind of naivety in terms of the details of Israel," the Illinois Republican told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program.

"I think part of it is the president kind of sees himself as a champion of being able to make big deals. Maybe this is part of giving some verbal concessions to the Palestinians ahead of some big deal."

The latest controversy arose when an American diplomat in Israel, ahead of Trump's trip there, said the nation does not have jurisdiction over the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

The matter was compounded when National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster was asked about the comment and replied that it "sounded like a policy decision."

Kinzinger said the doubts should be removed, however, when pictures come out of Trump's meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which will "look very powerful."

Kinzinger said the visit will also prove as an opportunity to reset some of the issues that have come up between the United States and Israel.
