Donald Trump is scheduled to make his first visit to Iowa in August, a move that has sparked speculation about a possible 2016 run for president.

The real estate and entertainment billionaire accepted an invitation to speak at the second annual leadership summit hosted by The Family Leader, a group of religious conservative activists, according toThe Des Moines Register

Former Pennsylvania senator and 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum also will speak at the Aug. 10 event. Other possible Republican presidential hopefuls yet to confirm include Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Marco Rubio of Florida. Texas Gov. Rick Perry, also a 2012 GOP presidential candidate, also has been invited.

Trump briefly considered White House bids in 2000 and 2012. The New York Post reported recently that Trump has spent more than $1 million to research the strength of a possible 2016 run.

The Iowa event won't be the first time this year Trump has gone on the stump. The reality TV show host spoke to a crowd of 2,300 Republicans at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner May 21 in Novi, Mich.
