Talk Stream Live's top five in the second quarter of 2013 were also its top five overall for 2012, but in this order: Limbaugh, Savage, Beck, Ingraham, and Levin. The sample size for the Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2012, survey period was 2.75 million listening sessions. That survey ranked the top 100 talk shows.
Limbaugh has been considered America's most widely listened-to talk-radio host ("the most listened-to radio host on the planet," he likes to say). He is also the father of the current era of talk radio, and an influential player on America's political scene, according to the NewsMax Top 25 Radio Hosts
, which rates Limbaugh as America's most influential host.
Savage is individualistic, iconoclastic, and eclectic; a passionate populist who sometimes sounds like a shock jock, according to the NewsMax rating, which places him fourth.
"Those who listen to me say they hear a bit of Plato, Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Moses, Jesus, and Frankenstein," says Savage.
Bill O'Reilly is rated second and Don Imus is rated third in the NewsMax standing. Ingraham is sixth and Beck is seventh. Levin isn't included in the top 25.
