Rand Paul is taking a number of steps that could indicate he’s running for president in 2016, according to Politico
For example, he visited Israel last week, and he has accepted an invitation from the American Conservative Union to speak at its Conservative Political Action Conference in March. Those two moves are considered de rigueur for any Republicans who wants to be president.

Paul also has been taking strong stances on policy issues. He voiced heated opposition Monday to the idea of President Barack Obama implementing gun control through executive action.
"I'm against having a king," Paul told the Christian Broadcasting Network News. "I think having a monarch is what we fought the American Revolution over. Someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress — that's someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch."
