Rocker and gun enthusiast Ted Nugent called it “insanity” that the people currently contemplating new control laws as a response to recent massacres do not like guns and want to “brainwash” Americans away from them.
Nugent also said in an exclusive interview with Newsmax TV that anti-gun activists who push for gun-free zones, such as those outside of schools, are responsible for those areas being where the most innocent lives are lost when tragedies like Sandy Hook happen.

The Motor City Madman said that putting Vice President Joe Biden and attorney general Eric Holder in charge of crafting any gun regulation makes no sense considering that both have been on record as opposing most gun ownership.

“This is so bizarre. It breaks my heart because it’s equal to hiring Jeffrey Dahmer to determine the future of children’s playground activities,” Nugent said. “These guys are on record. They hate guns, they hate the gun owners, they hate the NRA. Eric Holder has stated on film, clearly, that he wants to brainwash Americans about guns and the Second Amendment. And this isn’t just some Black Panther in Philadelphia threatening voters – even though we didn’t charge them with any crimes.”
Biden said Tuesday that President Barack Obama would be putting some kind of new regulations in place with or without Congress’s assistance. That, Nugent said, does not have him too concerned because of the Constitutional requirements for him to do such a thing.
“I will defer to constitutional scholars who I have been listening to and communicating with, and the president cannot legally have any ban, put any ban or law or new regulation in effect pertaining or infringing upon our Second Amendment rights,” he said.
“To do so would be an illegal order,” he added.
California Sen. Dianne Feinstein announced in the days after the Sandy Hook shooting that she would be introducing a new version of the assault weapons ban with in the first couple of weeks of the new Congress taking office this month.
Nugent called it “Planet of the Apes stuff” that she would reintroduce the law, and that somebody like her would assail weapons but also be carrying one — so the best option for Nugent and gun owners, he said, is to laugh.
“This is insanity personified and most of us sit back and laugh at the level of insanity, except that it’s real and it’s dangerous. So we are voting with our wallets, we’re buying more guns and ammo than ever in recorded history,” he said.

“Just in December,” Nugent added, “we eclipsed the record gun and ammo sales that have taken place nonstop since certainly the fall of 2008 when we saw the threat coming from Barack Hussein Obama and his anti-gun minions.”
A spokesman for and lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, Nugent said he wasn’t surprised that the organization gained more than 100,000 members in the four weeks since the Sandy Hook massacre.
The reason, he said, is that people feel a need to be able to defend themselves, and firearms are the best way to do it. Agreeing with NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, Nugent quoted LaPierre’s speech on gun violence by saying it has been historically and statistically proven that “the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun... is [with] a good guy with a gun.”
“The anti-gunners’ dream is called a gun-free zone and in every instance where the most innocent life is life it happens in the gun-free zones that have been engineered and forced into our society,” he said. “Then, shockingly, they see that the most innocent lives are lost in gun-free zones and then they want more of them? This is scary stuff.”
Nugent continued to say that firearms are not, per se, the problem.
“So those of us of goodwill, decency, and logic and who’ve studied the evidence and the facts we know that it’s not a gun issue, it’s not an ammo issue, it’s not caliber issue, it’s not a rate of fire issue,” he said. “It is mostly a prescription drug and a mental derangement issue where we do not take care properly of the people that show signs of dangerous behavior and mental retardation.”
“Increasing evidence that is coming in from all angles that every perpetrator of these mass slaughters,” Nugent added, “was on some type of psychiatric pharmaceutical and that every one of these mass murderers was known by everyone around them, their associates, their family, their fellow workers, that they were psychos, they were dangerous, they were mentally deranged, and that they were indeed a threat.”
“But no one acted on it because of this curse, this surge of political correctness where we’re more concerned about hurting a psychopath’s feelings than to have him controlled and put away to save innocent lives,” he said.
