Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is breaking through with voters and has found his voice, Ed Pozzuoli, political advisor and former campaign advisor to Ambassador Jon Huntsman, told Newsmax TV in an exclusive interview.

Pozzuoli, president of the law firm Tripp Scott, said people are starting to pay attention as Romney is breaking through in the wake of his great debate performance.

“It’s time that people are starting to pay attention to this election and the good news for Gov. Romney is that he’s found his voice and that the voice is pretty clear as to what his vision of the economy and where it should go and how to get America back working again versus what we’ve seen in the last four years from the Obama administration,” he said.

“Look, it’s about the economy. When you don’t have a job or you’re working two part time jobs just to make ends meet there is something inherently wrong. We’ve lost the ability to live the American Dream, to offer up a better life for our children the same kind of promise that we had when we were kids,” Pozzuoli said.

“The idea of having a $14 million plus debt overhead on a future generation is the moral issue of the day and with the number of people unemployed, government is not the answer,” he said. “Ultimately, we have to turn and release the power of the American capitalist society. After all, in the history of the world, it is the system that has lifted people out of poverty and into success, and that’s what we need to do under Gov. Romney.”

Pozzuoli, who recently penned an op-ed for Forbes called, “Why It’s Time for the Voters to Fire President Obama,” said he thinks people are ready to fire President Barack Obama.

“The reason is if they look at what has occurred in the last four years, when we talk about a lack of support or a lack of understanding of this administration and the comments like, ‘You didn’t build it, therefore, entrepreneur, you don’t deserve,’ well, that’s just a sign of a lack of understanding about how the economy works and that translates into a couple of things,” he said.

“One, the idea of increasing taxes on the middle class that’s working so hard to drive home and to educate their kids, to meet their monthly obligations this is an American tragedy,” he continued.

“You’re talking about eight plus percent for a number of months and then when you look at the real unemployment numbers, we’re really talking about somewhere between 12 and 15 percent, if you include discouraged workers and those who are working part time when they really want a full time, well-paying job. There aren’t enough there. You have certain weight of both the debt, government regulations and the uncertainty around tax policy from this administration that is inhibiting entrepreneurs from taking the risk and hiring new people in an expanded economy. We don’t have that today under President Obama.”

With Romney’s superior debate performance has come more character attacks from the Obama campaign, which Pozzuoli said is because the Obama camp cannot run on its record.

“David Axelrod is quite good at what he does but he’s, ultimately, a political hack and he can’t get around the idea of when people are unemployed, when the debt is skyrocketing and when there’s less business startups over the Obama administration than the previous four years, it’s just unbelievable,” he said. “They want to take your mind off of what is occurring with the economy, and do you blame them? The only way they can win is by attacking Gov. Romney because they can’t run on a record. So, when you look at their record, it’s an utter failure.”

Pozzuoli said the hope-and-change approach of cozying up to those who want to do us harm has failed and Romney would bring a different approach.

“Principle number one is to be true friends with our friends in the region and that means Israel,” he said. “There should be no daylight between the United States policy and its friend in the region, the sole, true democracy there, Israel. Second, the idea of cozying up to those who want to do us harm and hope that they will change their approach with us. That kind of hope and change has collapsed in its own weight. So those are the two things that are important in dealing with the Middle East.”

He went on, “But one thing about the Benghazi attack is very important. The Obama administration, one of two things, they either did not want the American public to realize that it was a true terrorist attack and, therefore, purposely mislead the American public or they simply didn’t recognize that it was a terrorist attack and one could say that a certain level of incompetence is put in. So, either way, they don’t bode well in the way they handled that. The American public is smart enough to know that it was a terrorist attack pretty much within the first hour or two.”

Pozzuoli, who served as a key member of the Bush-Cheney legal team that oversaw the Florida recount in 2000, said Florida will go for Romney.

“It’s going to go for Romney. I see a lot of momentum in the Sunshine State now,” he said. “Republicans are beginning to see and be energized by the message that we’re starting to see from Gov. Romney: the message on the economy, the ability to turn and look at American exceptionalism and not make excuses for it but rely on it to grow our economy and to be strong around the world. That’s a message that will carry this state.
