In the wake of President Barack Obama’s decisive victory Tuesday night over Mitt Romney, Democratic pollster Doug Schoen tells Newsmax that Republicans should go back to the drawing board and develop a new message.

The GOP “needed a positive pro-active message on growth and job creation,” he asserted. “Didn't have one.”

Schoen also predicted in an exclusive interview that neither Democrats or Republicans will be any more likely to reach across the aisle during the president’s second term.

“The country will continue to be polarized,” he predicted. “Democrats have no incentive to compromise given their class-based campaign, and neither do House Republicans who are almost certainly in no mood to compromise with a re-elected President Obama.”

The author of “Hopelessly Divided: The New Crisis in American Politics and What It Means for 2012 and Beyond,” Schoen said that both parties can take a singular lesson from Tuesday’s outcome.

“A good night to focus on our challenges going forward which are joint challenges — not Democratic or Republican challenges,” he added.
