Idaho Rep. Raul Labrador said Sunday President Barack Obama “moved the goal posts” after the Speaker of the House offered a budget compromise that could have cost him the gavel for the sake of avoiding sequestration.

During a round-table appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Labrador said Obama is playing political games with the forced budget cuts.

“That’s what the president is going to try to do — he’s going to try to make sure that the Republicans feel the pain in their districts instead of doing the responsible thing,” Labrador said. “They don’t want to cut government spending. They want to increase taxes, and they want to increase spending.”

"The president doesn’t want a deal. The president wants a political victory. He wants a political victory on taxes, Labrador added. "He wants a political victory on spending. And I’m afraid that he wants a political victory on immigration."
