Miniter: Security of US Facilities Abroad Suffers Under Clintons

Friday, 16 May 2014 06:31 PM

Terrorism expert Rich Miniter said a lack of security at American facilities around the world seems to occur when a Clinton is in charge.

The most obvious example is Benghazi, when Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State.

But it also happened on Aug. 7th, 1998, when car bombs were set off by al-Qaeda agents at U.S. embassies in the African cities of Dar es Salaam and Nairobi —when Bill Clinton was president, according to Miniter.

"The embassy bombings [in Africa] were on Aug. 7, 1998. [They] killed 224 people, including 12 Americans," Minter told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"[In Nairobi], Ambassador Prudence Bushnell was saved only [because] the chair she was in … [was] turned in such a way that the glass that came into the window by the explosion hit the back of the chair and not her.

"She had repeatedly for more than a year and a half prior to the bombing in 1998 asked the Clinton State Department for more security and was turned down repeatedly."

Miniter — co-author with Scott McEwan of the book "Eyes on Target: Inside Stories from the Brotherhood of the U.S. Navy SEALs," published by Center Street — said he believes the 1998 embassy bombings were a prelude to the Benghazi attack.

"Basically, when a Clinton is in charge of diplomatic security, the diplomats better watch out," he said.
