Ex-SEAL Taylor: Hillary Must Answer Benghazi Security Questions

Friday, 21 Feb 2014 05:28 PM

Hilary Clinton still has many questions to answer about why she didn't order tighter security at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi after it was requested by Ambassador Christopher Stevens, former Navy SEAL Scott Taylor says.

"It wasn't just one request from the ambassador … There were literally hundreds of instances and security reports," Taylor told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Granted, she would not have read all of those reports, but there would absolutely be a report given to her that detailed the synopsis of the horrible security situation there."

Taylor is president of the social welfare group OPSEC, which on its website calls itself "a non-partisan grassroots advocacy organization focused on protecting US Special Operations Forces and national intelligence assets and operatives from political exploitation and policies, and the misuse of classified information, that unnecessarily exposes them and their families to greater risk and reduces their effectiveness in keeping Americans safe."

Taylor says Clinton wanted to establish a permanent U.S. outpost in Benghazi.

"This was Hillary's baby, you know … [an item] she could tout as something politically to help her run for president," he said.

Story continues below video.

Taylor said that following the terrorist attack in which Stevens and three other Americans were brutally killed, Clinton "made one phone call to the National Security advisor who then called the president and that's the only call that we know about. That's it.

"What else does anyone out there know that Hillary did the night that our sovereign soil was attacked and people got killed? She called the National Security advisor and that's it. No calls to the president. We don't know what she did that night."

Taylor said he was alarmed when it was former UN Ambassador Susan Rice who appeared on television after the Benghazi attack and not Clinton.

"Susan Rice is on the TV saying that Hillary was distraught for those five days afterwards. That's why she went on the Sunday talk shows," he said.

"Do we really want a president who would be distraught for five days after an attack? No, we want somebody who was in the fight, who's taking care of business, who's up all night long making phone calls, making sure that our sovereign soil and our people are protected, and that's not what she did."
