CNN Ordered to Stop Broadcasting from Crimea

A CNN crew has been told to stop broadcasting from Crimea or they would be kicked out of their hotel, the network reports.

CNN International correspondent Anna Coren, told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Thursday that the management of the hotel where they had been staying for a week told them to stop broadcasting.

"We asked for the reason, they didn't give us one," Coren said. "Very unusual, but basically said stop broadcasting or we'll kick you out."

Coren said her crew got a "very strong feeling" the hotel was being pressured, but it was unclear whether that pressure came from local militia or from the Crimean government, which voted earlier in the day to align with Russia.

"We know that don't like the West, they don't like the United States, don't like Europe," she said, adding that when some people hear she works for CNN, "there's a great deal of hostility."

"You're either getting the message out that's pro-Russian or they don't want to hear it," Coren said.
