Ray Flynn: Bloomberg Using Black Males as Scapegoats in Anti-Gun Agenda

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is using young black men as scapegoats by claiming that cities must remove guns from minority males to solve the problem of gun violence, former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn tells Newsmax TV.

"We should be doing things constructively ...  to build the future for young black males," Flynn, who served as Boston's mayor from 1984 to 1993, told hosts J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" Monday.

During an interview with the Aspen Institute, Bloomberg said that minority males who are between 15 and 25 years of age are responsible for 95 percent of murders, and that cities should work to remove guns from this age group to combat violence.

"I don't think just by accusing all black males or 95 percent of black males of leading this destructive lifestyle is helpful to what you want to achieve in creating a viable community and a viable city," Flynn said.

"It would work in the best interest of the black males by doing constructive things for them — sports and schools, education, jobs — create those kinds of issues of hope and opportunity," he said.

Flynn contends that if these constructive programs are implemented, "you won't even be talking about drugs and violence.

"Unfortunately Michael Bloomberg has created a scapegoat here, and that is all black males in America," he said.
