Alex Pappas on Ottawa Shootings: 'Bad Things Are Happening'

The horrific shootings in Ottawa underscore the fact that the world is a scary and dangerous place, says Alex Pappas, a political reporter for The Daily Caller.

"It reinforces what a lot of people know, which is that it's still a scary world out there, bad things happen," Pappas said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

On Wednesday morning, a Canadian soldier was shot and killed at the Canadian War Memorial in Ottawa and "numerous gunmen" were seen running toward the nearby Parliament buildings in Canada's capital, where more shots were fired.

Canadian officials told CNN and other media outlets there were at least three separate shooting incidents at roughly the same moment — just before 10 a.m. local time in Ottawa.

"I go to the U.S. Capitol here in D.C. all the time . . . To know that these sort of things can still happen . . . Bad things are happening out there."
