"Cannabis brings us closer to ourselves, closer to others, closer to love, closer to our birds. It brings us closer to God," he said.

"We don't say God in our church. We say love because . . . one man's god is George Burns and another man's god is Wendy Williams," Levin explained.

"Defining God isn't anything we want to get involved with. We celebrate love and life's great adventure because we should," he contends.

"Every day is an amazing day on this planet. We can do beautiful things together. If you're hurt, we'll help you. If you can help, we'll help others," he added.

Levin also touted the supposed health benefits of the cannabis plant.

"Cannabis is a health supplement because people's endocannabinoid systems, like a nervous system, everybody has one, it gets out of whack from poisonous foods and poisonous air and sugary drinks and alcohol. All these things wreck our health system," the founder of the First Church of Cannabis told Newsmax.

"Cannabis has the only ingredients that cure our endocannabinoid system because of the nutrients on the plant itself," he claims.

"We as humans have an instinct to go to this plant when we are unhealthy, and the world is so unhealthy now. Yes, we need this plant in our life," he added. "We need it to celebrate love and to maintain its steady health balance."

The First Church of Cannabis in Indianapolis is set to open its doors on July 1.
