CSP's Zubrin: US Not Giving Kurds Enough Help

By    |   Friday, 03 Oct 2014 05:30 PM

The United States is not giving the Kurds nearly enough help in fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq, says Dr. Robert Zubrin, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy.

"What's happening is ISIS is attacking a major Kurdish enclave in Syria called Kobani. There are about 4,000 Kurds there. All they have are Ak-47s and rocket propelled grenades," Zubrin told Rick Ungar and John Fund, guest hosts of the Friday edition of "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"They're pleading for arms and pleading for U.S. tactical air support. ISIS is attacking them with scores of tanks and artillery. They're really in danger of being defeated and exterminated.

"The only help they've sent were two fighters on Saturday that took out two ISIS tanks and then just flew away. The attack is going on. They are refusing to send them any arms. This is awful. These people are willing to fight ISIS, they are fighting ISIS, but we're letting them be defeated."

Zubrin, who is president of Pioneer Energy and Pioneer Astronautics, said the Kurds are acting as America's "boots on the ground."

"By the way, if those Kurdish fighters are killed, hundreds of thousands of women and children are going to be massacred," he said.

The Islamic State has been slaughtering Christians, beheading journalists and kidnapping and selling young women as sex slaves in its quest to form a global Islamic caliphate ruled by one religious leader.
