Kasich Skirts Comparing Trump to Hitler, Despite Super-PAC Ad

Sunday, 29 Nov 2015 04:16 PM

Republican presidential candidate John Kasich on Sunday avoided comparing fellow candidate and front- runner Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, despite a new ad by a super-PAC supporting Kasich that comes close to making such a comparison.

In a new ad out last week produced by the super-PAC Kasich for America, Colonel Tom Moe paraphrases Martin Niemöller's poem"First They Came For," substituting the groups Trump has gone after during the campaign for ones targeted by the Nazis during the rise of the Third Reich.

"These are his words. He feels very strongly about a man who divides us," Kasich said, appearing on ABC's "This Week." "It's about whether we want to have a leader who unifies the country. I mean, Trump has criticized and insulted women, Hispanics, Muslims and reporters."

Kasich also said he still does not think Trump will win the Republican nomination, and avoided saying whether or not he would support him if he did.

"He's not going to," Kasich said. "So we're not even going to go there."
