Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu says he completely understands Vice President Joe Biden's painfully long indecision about whether to seek the White House in 2016 before finally pulling the plug on the idea this week.

"When I was trying to make up my mind as to whether or not I was going to run for a fourth term as governor, I changed my mind about 20 times in the hour and a half before the news conference,"  Sununu said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I understand the psychological angst he was going through and I don't think there was anything insidious in either his process or him coming to that final conclusion.

"It's just when you're going to make a momentous decision like that, you really are going back and forth up until the last minute, at least I found that."

Sununu, who ultimately decided not to run for a fourth term in the Granite State, also served as chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush.

He is the author of "The Quiet Man: The Indispensable Presidency of George H.W. Bush," published by Broadside.
