Gloria Allred: New Bill Cosby Video 'Disgusting'

By    |   Tuesday, 10 Mar 2015 10:54 PM

A short promotional video in which comedian Bill Cosby is wearing silk pajamas and chatting on the phone about an upcoming gig is "disgusting," coming from a man accused of multiple sexual assaults, says Gloria Allred, the famed Los Angeles attorney representing some of Cosby's accusers.

Several women who allege that Cosby drugged and raped them also say that "they woke up in his bed and that there he was, naked under a robe," Allred told "MidPoint" guest host John Bachman on Newsmax TV Tuesday.

"Given that the allegations are … having to do with his bed and sometimes his home, to have him sitting there in his pajamas trying to look like Hugh Hefner [in the video] is really trying to insult the women," said Allred.

Cosby released the 10-second clip to fans on Monday. In it, he also says, "I'm far from finished," adopting the voice of his cartoon character Fat Albert.

Cosby has canceled several concerts in the wake of the assault allegations, and is being sued for defamation by three of the more than 30 women who have accused him of rape. But no criminal charges have been brought to date against the once-beloved entertainer.

Allred said that Cosby has avoided the courts, criminal and civil, largely because the statute of limitations has run out on allegations that go back decades.

But she said that Cosby has not been excused by "the court of public opinion, where this is playing out."

"More people now are believing many of the women, and are disbelieving the denials of Bill Cosby and his supporters," said Allred. "The evidence for that is that many of his shows on his 2015 concert tour have been canceled."

Allred also discussed a high-profile case that she is not litigating, but is watching closely: DeBoer v. Snyder, a challenge to Michigan's voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage that will be argued before the Supreme Court on April 28, with a ruling expected before July.

Allred predicted by the time the high court is done with DeBoer and a handful of similar cases this year, gay marriage will be the law of the land. She said the only question is the margin of the win.
