Even as New York City is treating its first Ebola patient, Dr. Nils Mueller-Kronast tells Newsmax that we need to stay calm about the virus.

"Certainly the news of Ebola is very, very frightening for everybody," Mueller-Kronast, a Florida neurologist, told J.D. Hayworth and Morgan Thompson on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV Friday. "At the same, we need to keep calm and look at it with a scientific aspect."

"We need to make sure that we do the appropriate infection control measures, that we isolate people who are obviously infected, that we protect the healthcare workers that seem to be most at risk," he explained.

"The population overall seems to be much less at risk as we've seen by the experience in Texas," he said. "So I don't think there's reason for a panic."

"It's very, very important that everybody looks at this in a very calm way," he added.

The neurologist contends that "mandatory quarantines really haven't really shown to be very effective, so it needs to be on a voluntary basis."

"If the people are known to have some exposure" he recommends that they "seclude themselves for the 21 days, if that's indicated and supported by the CDC."
