Dick Morris: Hillary Will Claim TPP Fixed, Then OK It

By    |   Thursday, 11 Aug 2016 10:39 PM

If Hillary Clinton is elected president, she will reverse herself yet again on the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal and find a way to approve it, political adviser Dick Morris tells Newsmax TV.

Clinton, now the Democratic presidential nominee, helped write the TPP, calling it "the gold-plated standard of trade agreements," Morris told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth on Thursday.

When her primary challenger Bernie Sanders said he was going to run against her on her support of TPP, she suddenly decided she was against it, Morris said. "And what she's obviously going to do is if she's elected, is say 'I'm against it' and then five minutes negotiate some cosmetic concessions and then say, 'Well my objections are now fully met.'"

Morris said the important thing to note about Clinton on trade is that before the North American Free Trade Agreement, which she supported, the United States had a $2 billion trade surplus with Mexico and now has a $75 billion trade deficit with Mexico.

"Before China was admitted to the World Trade Organization under Bill Clinton, which Hillary supported, we had a $50 billion trade deficit with China," he said. "We now have a $450 billion trade deficit with China. So these deals that were oversold to the American people; it's curious that she doesn't say who oversold them: It was her."

On other subjects, Morris said:

  • Donald Trump is maturing as a presidential candidate. "He only made that one mistake about the Second Amendment, which was hardly a real mistake, and just a misunderstood comment."
  • "Before Obama became president and Hillary became secretary of state, the Muslim Brotherhood was treated as terrorist organization on par with Hamas or with Hezbollah and it's an organization designed to facilitate Islamist extremist takeovers of governments around the world. Hillary undid that. She invited Muslim Brotherhood's representatives to come to the United States even though Bush had excluded them because they were terrorists, she welcomed them when they took over the government of Egypt before finally the country came to its senses and overthrew them."

Morris is author with Eileen McGann of "Armageddon: How Trump Can Beat Hillary" has already soared to the top of the Amazon.com bestseller list and hit the No. 1 spot for all non-fiction books sold in the world.

"Armageddon" is already a Wall Street Journal and New York Times bestseller as well.
