Benghazi Survivor Tiegen Wants to Hear From Hillary

By    |   Thursday, 18 Sep 2014 01:24 PM

Former Marine and Benghazi survivor John Tiegen said on “America’s Forum” Thursday that of all the people testifying in the current House Select Committee on Benghazi, there’s one he is most interested in hearing from: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“I’d like to hear what Hillary has to say, I mean honestly,” Tiegen said on the Newsmax TV program. “Hopefully she can come out and tell, I mean what were they really doing that night? Were they really trying to send us help or were they just kind of waiting for it to hopefully just blow over and nothing else would happen?”

A member of the CIA’s Global Response Staff (GRS), Tiegen survived the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith.

A second attack a mile away killed two CIA contractors.

The Obama administration initially blamed the attacks on a spontaneous demonstration over an anti-Muslim video, but it was later revealed that the attacks were premeditated by radical Islamists.

Tiegen blames officials for not responding to requests for additional security in advance of the attacks on the 11th anniversary of 9/11.

“The initial outcome of Sean Smith and Ambassador Stevens, I mean there was nothing the U.S. at the time of it happening could’ve did, but beforehand they could’ve added more security that the State Department requested, and for the final outcome with the mortar attacks, I believe if they had sent some sort of air support it would’ve made a huge difference on the mortar team that killed (the CIA contractors),” he said.

Tiegen said he hopes that those testifying at the select committee hearings are “truthful and honest” and that the end result is the State Department and other leaders listen “to the guys that are actually on the ground and not pencil pushers back in D.C.”
