Ben Stein: Disdain for Netanyahu an Outrage

Monday, 10 Nov 2014 03:42 PM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a fearless and heroic leader — and the disdain for him by the Obama administration is an outrage, says actor and economist Ben Stein, the former speechwriter for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

"[He's] a genuine star, went behind Arab lines to attack PLO terrorist camps, was wounded, dressed up as a maintenance man to rescue Jewish hostages on a hijacked airliner, was shot in the shoulder," Stein said of Netanyahu's war record on the Monday edition of "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"This is a guy who has balls as big as the Rock of Gibraltar and the henchman of Obama dared to call him a chicken-something coward. It's an outrage."

Stein, the "Dreemz" columnist for Newsmax Magazine, was referring to a profane reference to Netanyahu by an unnamed White House official.

"[Obama] belongs, or at least at one time belonged, to that group of super anti-Semitic, Minister Farrakhan, black Muslims in Chicago. He didn't belong to them but he was close to them," Stein said.

"I think he picked up some kind of residual Jew hatred from that but I could be totally, totally wrong about that but — I want to acknowledge I could be wrong about that.

"But why he doesn't apologize, track down whoever said it, fire that person, disgrace that person. If he doesn't do that, it means he basically agrees with it."

Stein made headlines last week when he called Obama the "most racist president" the nation has ever had and is "purposely trying to use race to divide Americans." And he's not backing down.

"Race has been the major bugaboo of American life. Race has been the one where people have been killed. Rarely have women been lynched for being women. Rarely have rich people been lynched for being rich," Stein said.

"But race is the killer and race is the most dangerous thing to divide people on and it terrifies me that we have a president who knows so little of history, American and world, that he would use race to divide a people."

Stein said Obama's only goal is to win.

"He is a person who, like all politicians, is totally committing to winning and I don't blame him for that. That's what politicians want to do. But what I blame him for is putting that so high up that he would risk dividing Americans," Stein said.

"By the way, it is just plain ignorance. This is not a very smart guy. This idea that he's this terribly smart genius from Harvard Law School, it's just a complete fraud.

He's just another … community organizer who just wants to push his program. He doesn't really care that much about what happens to America."

Hillary Clinton should not be compared to Obama, Stein added.

"She's a dangerous woman in her own way, but she's not to be compared with Obama in terms of ignorance. In terms of ignorance, Obama is really way, way out there. Although, not as far out as Jimmy Carter who makes Obama look like Winston Churchill," he said.

Stein, who has appeared in such movies as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Frankenstein General Hospital," said the "real problem" with race in America is a "very, very beaten down, pathetic, self-defeating black underclass."

"[It] just can't seem to get its way going in the way that blacks were able to before the scourge of drugs and the scourge of gangs," he said.

"It's an amazing thing. Blacks were on their way in this country, even after the horrors of slavery and then drugs came in, the destruction of families came in, and the crisis in the black community is just absolutely unbelievable and that seems to be something Mr. Obama could have addressed and he has ignored it completely."
