Ari Fleischer: Press Can't Stand Trump 'Personally' or 'Ideologically'

The former White House spokesman for George W. Bush says President Donald Trump is having a much tougher time with the press than his boss ever did because reporters don't like anything about the nation's 45th president.

"Trump has it far worse. Trump has a double dose of hostility," Ari Fleischer, president of Ari Fleischer Sports Communications, said Tuesday on Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"The press liked George W. Bush personally. Bush was a very affable guy and he got along with the press. They didn't like him ideologically. Donald Trump they can't stand personally and they don't like him ideologically. That's the double barrel that he's in."

Since he was sworn in on Jan. 20th, Trump has constantly been at odds with the press, and his White House spokesman Sean Spicer has also mixed it up with reporters over the accuracy of Trump's statements and policies.

Fleischer believes Trump has a far different dynamic with the Fourth Estate.

Donald Trump gives it back pretty good too, and Donald Trump you can argue in some ways as being the aggressor against some reporters. So be it," Fleischer said.

"The press has still reached levels of delirium against Donald Trump that I have never seen before with anybody."
