András Simonyi, former Hungarian ambassador to the United States, tells Newsmax TV that the "Panama Papers" scandal will begin to show that even leaders in some Western democratic nations are involved in hiding wealth in offshore shell companies.

People close to Russian President Vladimir Putin show up in the records of Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. In all, 72 current or former world leaders are listed in the papers obtained by Munich newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

Simonyi, who currently is managing director at the Center for Transatlantic Relations in the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner that the case is not just about politics and corruption, "it's also morality."

"Why this is really immoral in the case of Vladimir Putin is because he is running a country that is about to collapse, it's on the verge of economic collapse as some parts of the country are really, really suffering economically and then you have a leader who directly or indirectly stows away $2 billion," Simonyi said. "That's really immoral."

Simonyi said politicians should start thinking about how they will "get out of this … including some countries in Central Europe that are part of the democratic family of nations."
