Jenny Beth Martin: Tea Party Driving Midterm Issues

By    |   Friday, 31 Oct 2014 11:30 AM

As the midterm elections are coming to a close Tuesday, president and founder of the Tea Party Patriots tells Newsmax that not only is the tea party still relevant but it is driving the issues that are driving the campaigns.

"Gallup had a poll last week that showed that the tea party voters were the most motivated to vote in the election," Martin told J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV Friday.

"Then you look at the issues that Americans are concerned about when it comes to Obamacare, when it comes to stopping amnesty and action, securing our border," she explained.

"These are some of the issues that the tea party movement is driving in the political discussion that this country continues to revolve around," she said.

One of the issues Martin says that tea party members are concerned about right now is whether or not President Barack Obama plans to offer amnesty to illegal immigrants.

"He continues to say he's going to take action, and yet, he refuses to tell any of us what action he intends to take," she explained.

"He knows that if the voters around the country know the actions that he's trying to take that we would do what we could when we go to the polls on Tuesday to make sure that we're voting for people who are not going to allow him to seek executive action, such as executive amnesty or to continue with his radical agenda," she said.

Another major issue that is driving congressional campaigns is Obamacare, the president of the Tea Party Patriots claims.

"We know that people are continuing to receive notices of their health insurance policies being canceled," she explained.

"The president has warned insurance companies not to disclose information to anyone, to consumers or to the media about pending changes to Obamacare," she said.

"We know that a lot of the changes that are happening, people aren't going to know about until After Nov. 15, which is after the election next week," she added.

The other major decision that Obama is keeping until after the election has to do with the Keystone Pipeline, Martin says.

"With that, we're going to see that he will do what he can to kill the pipeline," she predicts.
