Trump Plans 'Deportation Force'

MSNBC's "Morning Joe"

Top-polling GOP presidential contender Donald Trump says he'll build a formidable "deportation force" to carry out his controversial campaign vow to boot out 11 million illegal immigrants.

In an interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Wednesday, the real estate billionaire was pressed on specifics of how he'd kick out illegal immigrants from the United States – and asked if he'd need a "massive deportation force."

"You're going to have a deportation force, and you're going to do it humanely," Trump replied to co-host Mika Brzezinski.

"Don't forget, Mika, that you have millions of people that are waiting in line to come into this country and they're waiting to come in legally. And I always say the wall, we're going to build the wall. It's going to be a real deal. It's going to be a real wall."

He declined to talk about the finances of the force, but said it would be "cheap."

Included in the real estate billionaire's immigration policy paper released in August is a call to triple the number of immigration and customs enforcement agents, and ending birthright citizenship.

Trump's plan, however, has come under fire from rivals, including during the fourth GOP debate Tuesday night, when he was criticized by Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

"We all know you can't pick them up and ship them across, back across the border. It's a silly argument," Kasich said. "It is not an adult argument. It makes no sense."

Trump disagrees.

"People will leave, people will leave, they're going to go back where they came from. That's the way it's supposed to be," Trump tells MSNBC. "They can come back, but they have to come back legally."

Trump says he'll also make the legal immigration system easier.

"There's going to be a big beautiful nice door," he tells MSNBC. "People are going to come in and they're going to come in legally. But we have no choice. Otherwise, we don't have a country. We don't even know how many people. We don't know if it's 8 million or if it's 20 million."
