Top officials in the administration of President Donald Trump will brief all 100 senators on the continued threats posed by North Korea, Politico reported Friday.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joe Dunford and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats will meet with the senators next week at the White House to update them on North Korea's recent acts. The meeting will also brief lawmakers on the U.S. policy against the North Korean nation in light of recent inflammatory statements made by their leader Kim Jong-un.

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place at the Senate, but a notice sent to Capitol Hill alerted senators that it had been moved to the White House. Lawmakers will likely question officials as well regarding the U.S. position on the issue. No congressional staffers will be allowed at the meeting.

On Friday, Trump Tweeted a message aimed at China, which he has pressured to assist the U.S. in its attempts to convince North Korea to end its nuclear weapons program. Trump said, "China is very much the economic lifeline to North Korea so, while nothing is easy, if they want to solve the North Korean problem, they will."

The president also told reporters on Thursday the U.S. was "in very good shape" in dealing with the threat posed by North Korea.
