One of Florida’s largest newspapers has endorsed Debbie Wasserman Schultz in her congressional re-election bid — despite what it calls the "WikiLeaks misadventure" that forced her to resign as chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

In an editorial published Monday, The Sun Sentinel writes:

"We'll stipulate that [she] can be prickly. And it was painful to watch people cheer her resignation … Nonetheless, the Sun-Sentinel Editorial Board strongly encourages Democrats to re-elect Wasserman Schultz … She's a tenacious leader unafraid to ruffle feathers."

Wasserman Schultz quit her powerful DNC position after emails surfaced that appeared to show her and other Democratic officials plotting against Sen. Bernie Sanders presidential bid in favor of Hillary Clinton.

The Sun-Sentinel says Wasserman Schultz acknowledged in an interview that she and others at the DNC "made mistakes" and "let frustration get to us" when Sanders used her as his "boogey woman" as his campaign faltered.

Still, the newspaper says, "Wasserman Schultz remains a potent political force."
