Newly-released emails indicate the State Department steadfastly carefully worked to accommodate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email account in her government office.

The emails, obtained by government watchdog Judicial Watch, discussed a "stand-alone" computer to be operated on a separate network for Clinton shortly after she became secretary of state in 2009.

Judicial Watch said the unusual system was engaged so that Clinton could "skirt"a federal system for email access.

In one of the emails the group obtained, State Department official Lewis Lukens wrote in a note that Clinton's personal computer would be "connected to the internet (but not through our system) to enable her to check emails from her desk."

Huma Abedin, Clinton's longtime aide, and then-deputy chief of staff, said: "Yes we were hoping for that if possible so she can check her email in her office."

Clinton's use of a private email system on a home server is being probed by the FBI for possible wrongdoing.

While Clinton has insisted nothing considered classified was sent over her home operation, the State Department revealed on Friday that 22 emails on her server were, in fact, "top secret."
