Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch Saturday suggested Secretary of State John Kerry as a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in light of the Hillary Clinton's lackluster showing in recent polls and the growing email scandal.

Murdoch, the executive chairman of News Corporation, said on Twitter:

Kerry, the former Massachusetts senator, ran for president in 2004. He lost to President George W. Bush.

Murdoch contributed to Clinton's presidential primary race in 2008, The Hill reports. He said in 2014 that he could support the former first lady in 2016 depending "on the Republican candidate totally."

Last month, Murdoch posted two tweets urging former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to enter the race:

Bloomberg is considering a $1 billion independent bid if Clinton does not win the nomination.
