Bin Laden Killer Investigated Over Information He Revealed

Former Navy SEAL Robert O'Neill, who has taken credit for firing the bullets that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, is under criminal investigation for possibly revealing classified information, Navy Times reports.

O'Neill appeared in a two-part Fox News special on Veterans Day to detail the mission he was part of that took out bin Laden in 2011. Navy Times reported that NCIS spokesman Ed Buice confirmed that O'Neill is under investigation, but would not say how or when O'Neill disclosed the information.

The NCIS received an allegation and then tracked it down, Buice said.

If the NCIS determines that charges should be filed, O'Neill could be recalled to active duty and face court-martial proceedings.

O'Neill appeared Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," saying much the same thing.

"Right now it's my understanding that there's been a complaint from somewhere inside the Navy that something was disclosed, and they're investigating the complaint," O'Neill said.

"They're not investigating me right now. I've not been contacted. It's my understanding any complaint needs to be investigated by the NCIS. They haven't called. If they do, I'll take the call."
