Russia tried to deal some blows to America's energy industry by conducting an anti-fracking campaign via state-controlled media, according to a U.S. intelligence report.

The unclassified report was made public Friday, the same day President-elect Donald Trump met with intelligence officials about Russia's interference in November's presidential election.

According to the Washington Examiner, the report also included a bit about Russia trying to strength Gazprom, a natural gas company based in Moscow, by trying to harm America's natural gas industry.

Cable news network RT, which is backed by the Russian government, was the main culprit in the anti-fracking campaign.

The intelligence report, according to The Daily Caller, claimed RT aired "anti-fracking programming, highlighting environmental issues and the impacts on public health.

"This is likely reflective of the Russian government's concern about the impact of fracking and U.S. natural gas production on the global energy market and the potential challenges to Gazprom's profitability."
